Syed Mehdi Ahmad, M.D.
Dr. Ahmad graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. He attended St. George’s Medical School and received his Doctor of Medicine degree.
Dr. Ahmad completed his ophthalmology residency at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, a teaching hospital of Columbia University, in Manhattan, New York, after completing a full residency in internal medicine. He served as chief resident in both residencies. He then went on to complete a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
He received additional specialized training in ophthalmic cancers at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and board eligible by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Ahmad’s training as an ophthalmologist, and more specifically an oculoplastic surgeon, gives him the greatest experience, knowledge of complex ophthalmic anatomy, and skill in the management of reconstructive, corrective and aesthetic procedures. Dr. Ahmad has authored numerous articles and book chapters. He is also active as an instructor, given both presentations and having participated in courses, at the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is currently involved in resident training.
Dr. Ahmad medically and surgically manages disorders of the eyelids, tear duct systems, and the orbit for both children and adults.
